Hi, I’m Daniel Matla. In 2004, after completing my apprenticeship as a tool mechanic, I stood in front of my DJ equipment, annoyed by how boring and scratched it looked
I thought, “I can handle a spray can—why not paint my equipment?” So, I decided to combine my DJing, graffiti skills, and technical knowledge to create custom faceplates.
My first attempt was a spray-painted metal plate, but it lacked detail and quality. Determined to improve, I experimented with different techniques and materials.
The breakthrough came in 2007 when I discovered a digital printer that could print directly onto metal plates. This allowed me to produce detailed, high-quality custom faceplates.
There had to be a solution!
Determined to protect my investment and keep my gear looking pristine, I started brainstorming with fellow DJs who shared the same frustrations. We knew we needed more than just basic protection; we needed something that reflected our unique styles and personalities while standing up to the rigors of our demanding schedules.
In 2004, our journey began. We spent countless hours testing and refining our designs, collaborating with over 250 DJs worldwide to develop the perfect solution.

Easy application: How to apply DJ Skins in less than 10 Minutes
Applying your DJ Skin® is quick and easy. Follow these simple steps to ensure a perfect fit:
- 1. Turn Off and Cool Down:
Ensure your device is turned off and has cooled down. Applying the skin in a cool environment makes it easier to handle.
- 2. Clean Your Device:
Use a static-free cloth to clean your device thoroughly. Remove all dust and fingerprints to ensure the adhesive sticks properly.
- 3. Remove Knobs and Faders:
Carefully remove any knobs and faders from your device. Use a soft cloth to protect the surface while doing this.
- 4. Peel the Skin:
Gently peel the DJ Skin® from its backing. Take your time to avoid tearing any thin sections.
- 5. Align and Apply:
Align the skin with the edges and cutouts of your device. Once properly positioned, press down gently. You can reposition the skin until it's perfect.
- 6. Smooth Out Bubbles:
Use your fingers to smooth out any air bubbles from the center outwards. The Easy Apply Structure ensures a bubble-free finish.
- 7. Reattach Knobs and Faders:Smooth Out Bubbles:
Once the skin is in place, reattach any knobs and faders you removed earlier.
- 8. Let It Settle:
Allow the adhesive to bond fully over 24-48 hours for the best results. Your DJ Skin® will continue to strengthen its hold over the next two weeks.
